PFW and the CFD go way back.
In 2015 the CFDA queried us regarding our more than ethical business practices and has subsequently incorporated many of them in their ‘‘Hand Book For Fashion Week Productions” and have lauded us as the most ethically produced fashion week as well, so it is an honor to receive their email again today!
At the time our Executive Producer thought the questionaire more of a story angle than an actual interivew so he asked one of our 2015 producers to answer the questions, allowing them some press time under their own name. However a reply email from the CFDA specifically asked for our Executive Producer to answer their query. Our executive Producer was the ONLY Fashion Week producer so asked.
9 months later a rather cryptic and serious sounding report (found at the links above) was sent to us asking for it to remain confidential until they would allow its public dissemination. That interview 9 months prior became the basis for the excoriation of IMG Inc, the changing of New York Fashion Week’s main sponsor Mercedes-Benz, and all because lil’ ol’ Portland Fashion Week and our ethical business practices made IMG Inc appear less than desirable in their sponsors’ eyes.
Wow, we brought down NYFW in 2015.
Good morning, Portland Fashion Week team.
Happy Tuesday! I hope this email finds you well.
As we approach the new year, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), is revisiting our mission and implementing plans to amplify our intents and purposes to strengthen the impact of the American fashion in the global economy.
We would like to hear from existing regional fashion weeks as you are fashion authorities in America and serve as voices of influence in your respective regions. I have included a link below to a survey that would help us to know more about you.
The survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or issues.
In light,
Elliot Carlyle
