FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portland Fashion Week Announces 10 Year Anniversary Show Schedule
Portland,Oregon (January 14, 2013). Portland Fashion Week®, the nation’s third longest running fashion week behind New York and Los Angeles, will celebrate its 10 year anniversary with a renewed vision, a new downtown Portland location and change in management. Formerly produced by the now dissolved PFW Productions, LLC., Portland Fashion Week® founding member, Tod Hunter Foulk, along with his new business partners and fashion insiders, Sarabeth Chambers and Jessica Kane, have formed The Portland Fashion Council and have begun production on the most recent Portland Fashion Week® series. Together they bring nearly four decades of combined experience in the Portland fashion and event production scene.
The mission of Portland Fashion Week® is to build an event showcasing the designers, retailers and City of Portland, Oregon on a national and international level and vice versa, making style-savvy Portland a must visit for buyers, editors and fashion connoisseurs the world over.
Re-envisioned from the ground up, meet the new Portland Fashion Week®!
Designer Selection Process – We will not sell the runway.
Designers will submit their designs to a carefully selected panel of fashion experts, buyers, editors, and producers, who will evaluate all submissions, and chose the best and brightest to showcase on the Portland Fashion Week® Runway. Unlike previous years, designers chosen to be a part of Portland Fashion Week® will not be responsible for production costs, instead a submission fee will grant their line consideration.
Giving Back to the Community
Portland Fashion Week® will dedicate portion of proceeds to different local charities. Highlighting their mission and goals, each spotlighted organization will receive a portion of Portland Fashion Week® proceeds as well as public donations to their cause.
We have decided to bring Portland Fashion Week® back to where it belongs, the heart of Portland! The 2013 Fall Event will be held at the Oregon Convention Center. We feel the location of the event is equally as important as the fashion shown, it represents the city of Portland and we want to make Portlanders proud.
The schedule will include a 3 day runway show event at the Pavilion and will also include 7 days of satellite events called PFW ON THE GO.
We believe that Portland Fashion Week® needs to integrate all that Portlanders hold near to their stylish hearts, including art and music. Therefore, the new Portland Fashion Week® production will feature eye-catching stage design and lighting, live music entertainment during the runway shows, live music after party events, art installations in the PFW Pavilion and much more.
Honoring Mother Earth – Environmental Ethos
We believe that Portland Fashion Week® needs to recommit and re-integrate a concept all Portlanders respect: an environmental ethos.
Though lauded for our previous work, we will be incorporating additional sustainable aspects to the production of Portland Fashion Week®. From our brand new sustainable bamboo runway, to offsetting our carbon footprint with the world’s only fashion week carbon mitigation replanting project, to featuring low consumptive LED lighting, and a commitment to sourcing needs locally. We want to showcase what makes Portland not only unique and fashionable, but livable as well.
Giving Retailers a Chance to Shine Too
Portland has much to offer, including some of the best independent boutiques in the country. Retailers will have the ability to submit their boutique for runway show consideration. Retailers as well as designers will have the ability to submit their boutique for runway show consideration.
Change in the Executive Production Team
The executive team has seen a change in membership. Founding member, Tod Foulk, will remain, adding new members Sarabeth Chambers and Jessica Kane to the team. Team biographies are included below. Former producers, Tito Chowdhury and Chris Cone, are no longer with Portland Fashion Week®. Previous reports that Portland Fashion Week® had been renamed FASHIONxT are false. FASHIONxT is the separate production of former Portland Fashion Week® producer Mr. Chowdhury, and is not affiliated in any way with Portland Fashion Week®.
