Following the worldwide acclaim of past years, in 2009, Portland Fashion Week has developed enhanced programming to further help the businesses of the nationally and internationally known designers, who are congregating here from all over the world to launch their Spring/Summer 2010 collections. The high caliber and sustainable production of Portland Fashion Week this year has garnered media-sponsorship from national publications like Surface, SPIN and Lufthansa in-flight magazines, international photography and online-media company Fashion Wire Press, and will be attended by numerous buyers and press - all of which contributes to bringing highly valuable industry attention to the established designers, uplift a new generation of designer talent, and help the economic development of Portland, Oregon, by increasing its profile as a global fashion center.
With a view to supporting the City of Portland's five year development strategy in enhancing the vibrant activewear industry in Portland, PFW dedicated its opening night for the latest in active-fashion trends. Following PFW's past achievements in launching the runway career of designers like future Project Runway winner Leanne Marshall, the second night will feature jury-selected emerging designers, where the audience will take part in selecting the next best star. The weekend will kick-off with two designers collection nights and will be capped by an all-sustainable fashion night.
