Portland Fashion Week first emerged in 2003 to become the third longest consecutive running Fashion Week in the U.S. and
is one of the Most Sustainably Produced Fashion Weeks in the world.
PFW was also the first fashion show in history to present 100% sustainable fashion designs, as hailed by VOGUE Magazine, and is ”The Best Indie Fashion Week in the U.S.” as written about in TIME Magazine.
With Portland being home to more winners in Project Runway history than any city, tying the combined total of both LA and NYC with 5, coupled with our DYI can-do ethos and standards of living, we have now become the most respected fashion Hub in America!
With a top-notch guest list and global media coverage, Portland Fashion Week® reaches nearly 2 million consumers a year, and continues to grow every season.
THE MISSION OF PORTLAND FASHION WEEK® IS TO ENHANCE THE REGION’S APPAREL DESIGN AND RETAIL ECONOMY BY MARKETING PORTLAND AS THE PREFERRED PLATFORM FROM WHICH TO LAUNCH A SUSTAINABLE APPAREL OR ACCESSORY COLLECTION FROM.
Designer Selection Process
Designers will submit their collections to a select panel of fashion experts, buyers, editors, and industry insiders who will evaluate all submissions and chose the best and brightest to showcase on the Portland Fashion Week® Runway.
Giving Back to the Community
Portland Fashion Week® will dedicate each of the nights of fashion to a different local charity. Highlighting their mission and goals, each spotlighted organization will receive a portion of Portland Fashion Week® proceeds as well as public donations to their cause
Honoring Mother Earth – Our Environmental Ethos
We believe that Portland Fashion Week® needs to promulgate a concept all Portlanders respect: an environmental philosophy based on reduce, reuse, and recycle, and we showcase every aspect possible where sustainability is concerned. From our use of eco-friendly make up and hair styling products, low wattage LED runway lights, recycled paper and paperless trails, and our tireless internationally recognized Carbon Mitigation Process whereby we offset our entire event’s carbon foot print by planting hundreds of native trees and shrubs after each show.
Though lauded for our previous work, we will be incorporating additional sustainable aspects in the production of Portland Fashion Week® in 2015 including showcasing our locally crafted beers, wines and spirits, while our Executive Chef’s fusing of regional and seasonal foods will set our gourmet catering and hospitality apart from all others.
We want to showcase what not only makes Portland unique and fashionable, but enjoyable and livable as well.
Giving Retailers a Chance to Shine Too
Portland has much to offer, including some of the best independent boutiques in the country.
Retailers will have the ability to submit their boutique for runway show consideration.
