As the third oldest fashion week in the United States, active since 2003, Portland Fashion Week has been recognized by "TIME Magazine" as the respected Indie Fashion Week in the USA. Portland Fashion Week is committed to reducing our carbon foot print by producing fashion shows which embrace sustainable practices, and dedicated to providing a continuing innovative platform supporting creative minds and building connections to the world fashion community.
About Portland Fashion Week:
Portland Fashion Week in our short 15 short years, has not only become TIME Magazine's BEST Indie Fashion Week in the USA, Book Moda's Most Sustainable Produced Fashion Week in the world, and by Vogue magazine's standards the first fashion week to showcase plus designs as well as sustainable apparel!!!! Honors well earned however we have also raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities, over 20,000 lbs of food for the Oregon Food Bank, over 6 tons of clothing and thousands of blankets for The Portland Rescue Mission, as well as undertaking a yearly Carbon Mitigation Program offsetting our entire event's carbon foot prints by planting over 5,000 native trees and nearly 4,000 native food bearing shrubs since 2007. Which actually makes Portland Fashion Week not only very kind and generous but the world's ONLY carbon negative fashion week as well! Aside from the above initiatives and championing our cruelty free cosmeticS cause, we support the important organizations below, and their vital missions wherever and whenever possible.

"We dream of a world in which every girl has at least one new dress! We want girls to know that they are worthy of love and respect. That God loves them!"
Hope 4 Women International (www.h4wi.org)- Dress a Girl Around the World Campaign (www.dressagirlaroundtheworld.com) bringing dignity to women around the world since 2006. Hope 4 Women International is a nondenominational independent Christian organization.
Imagine? What if Every Girl had just one dress?
People from across the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, The UK, Sweden, the Philippines, Uganda, and more gather for a day or an evening of sewing dresses out of pillowcases and fabric. They gather in living rooms, basements, backyards, dining rooms, schools, churches, and civic centers.
They join together because they believe that every girl deserves the dignity of owning at least one dress.
By providing a new dress you may well be changing a young girl’s destiny. Village pastors tell us that a girl wearing new dress presents an appearance that she is well cared for and may discourage would-be predators. We attach our Dress a Girl label on the outside of each dress sending an additional message that each girl is under the care of an organization, giving her added protection from those who would harm her.
Maiti Nepal (www.maitinepal.org) was born out of a crusade to protect Nepali girls and women from crimes like domestic violence, trafficking for flesh trade, child prostitution, child labor and various forms of abuse, exploitation and torture. In 1993, a group of socially committed professionals like teachers, journalists and social workers together formed Maiti Nepal to fight against the social evils inflicted upon our female populace. Its prominent focus has always been centered on preventing trafficking for forced prostitution, rescuing victims of the flesh trade and rehabilitating them. This social organization also actively works to provide justice for the victimized girls and women through criminal investigation and waging legal battles against the criminals. Since its inception, it has drastically highlighted trafficking issue with its strong advocacy from the local to national and international levels.
